Composé de Henry Dartnail (voix, guitare), son frère The House of Lord (voix, basse, claviers) et Olivier Askew (voix, batterie) et originaire d’Ashby-de-la-Zouch au Royaume-Unis, Young Knives sort son quatrième album Sick Octave sur leur propre label Gadzöök.
Selon le groupe, il s’agit de leur album le plus abouti. Entièrement autoproduit, il leur a permis d’exprimer sans entraves leur amour de la musique. C’est aussi DIY et crade qu’ils le souhaitaient. Quelque chose de dark et indus, un peu crasseux mais avec des touches de mélodies. Bien plus brut que leurs trois premiers albums, Sick Octave est l’expérimentation de la liberté et de la création à l’état pur. Ils ont eux-mêmes bricolé la majorité de leurs instruments et ont enregistré dans un hangar désaffecté, sur l’instant, les choses qui sonnaient bien.
Sick Octave représente bien un nouveau départ pour ce groupe dont les premiers albums avaient eu beaucoup de succès (singles dans le UK top 40, nomination au Mercury Prize en 2007…).
